Modern Technology for Better Orthodontic Care

iTero Digital Impressions

Getting started with orthodontic treatment is easier with iTero digital scanning. This advanced technology captures a detailed 3D image of your teeth and bite without the need for traditional impression materials. The digital scan helps our orthodontic team evaluate your smile, develop a personalized treatment plan, and track changes throughout your care. It can also provide a visual preview of your potential smile transformation, giving you a clearer picture of what's possible.

Panoramic Dental Imaging

Panoramic X-rays allow us to view the teeth, upper and lower jaws, and surrounding structures in one comprehensive image. This information helps us assess tooth development, identify concerns that may affect orthodontic treatment, and make informed decisions about your care. By understanding the bigger picture of your oral health, we can plan treatment with your long-term smile in mind.

Cephalometric Imaging

Cephalometric X-rays provide a specialized side-view image of the head, teeth, and jaws. These images are especially valuable when evaluating jaw relationships, facial growth, and the development of a patient's bite. For children and adolescents, this information can help us determine whether early orthodontic treatment may be beneficial and identify the most appropriate timing for care.

Innovative Orthodontic Treatment Options

Invisalign® Clear Aligner Treatment

West Windsor Orthodontics offers Invisalign clear aligners for children, teenagers, and adults seeking a discreet alternative to traditional braces.

Each series of custom aligners is designed to gradually move teeth into their planned positions. Because the aligners are removable, patients can continue enjoying their favorite foods and maintain their regular brushing and flossing routines.

Dr. Jonathan Nicozisis is a faculty member of Align Technology and serves on its Orthodontic Advisory Board and Clinical Research Network. His involvement in Invisalign education and research keeps our practice connected to evolving clear aligner techniques and treatment innovations.

The Invisalign Palatal Expander offers a modern approach to upper jaw expansion for appropriately selected growing patients.

Unlike traditional fixed expanders, this system uses a series of custom-made removable appliances to gradually widen the upper jaw. It provides another option for addressing certain developmental concerns while allowing patients to benefit from the convenience of removable orthodontic appliances.

Dr. Nicozisis has contributed to the advancement of this technology, co-authoring the first peer-reviewed journal publication on the Invisalign Palatal Expander in 2024.

Some Invisalign treatments require attachments or buttons to help guide tooth movement. When clinically appropriate, we can use Invisalign’s integrated button design, which incorporates these features into the aligners rather than requiring separate buttons to be bonded directly to the teeth.

This innovative approach can reduce the need for additional bonded attachments while providing the features needed to support planned tooth movements.

It’s one more example of how we incorporate modern orthodontic techniques to help make treatment more convenient for our patients.

Teenagers have unique orthodontic needs, and Invisalign Teen is designed with their lifestyles in mind.

These custom clear aligners provide a less noticeable way to straighten teeth while allowing teens to remove them for meals, sports, brushing, and flossing. Our team helps each teenager understand how to wear and care for their aligners to support successful treatment.

Orthodontic care can sometimes begin before all of a child’s permanent teeth have erupted. This approach, known as Phase 1 or early interceptive treatment, may help address certain developing orthodontic concerns.

Invisalign First offers a clear aligner option for children who are appropriate candidates. Treatment may help create space for developing permanent teeth, address certain bite problems, and guide jaw development when indicated.

Because every child grows differently, we carefully evaluate each patient’s dental development to determine whether early treatment is appropriate or whether monitoring growth is the better approach.

Putting Patient Comfort First

Synapse Dental Pain Eraser

At West Windsor Orthodontics, we understand that comfort is an important part of a positive orthodontic experience. That’s why every new patient receives the Synapse Dental Pain Eraser, an innovative device designed to help manage discomfort associated with orthodontic treatment.

The Dental Pain Eraser uses gentle, targeted vibration and is intended to help patients manage the soreness that may occur after orthodontic adjustments or when beginning a new set of clear aligners.

What makes this technology especially exciting is the opportunity it provides patients to take a more active role in their own comfort. The device offers a convenient, drug-free option that patients can use at home as part of their orthodontic care routine.

Dr. Nicozisis serves on the Clinical Advisory Board of Synapse, the company behind the Dental Pain Eraser, and has been involved in helping introduce this technology to the orthodontic market.

By including this device for every new patient, we demonstrate our commitment to making orthodontic treatment about more than just straight teeth. We want patients to feel supported, informed, and comfortable throughout their smile transformation.

Additional Benefits for Your Smile

Professional Teeth Whitening

A confident smile is about more than alignment. We also offer professional tooth whitening to help patients achieve a brighter-looking smile.

Our team can discuss available whitening options and recommend the most suitable timing based on your orthodontic treatment and individual dental needs.

Retainer Replacement Program

Completing orthodontic treatment is an important milestone, but maintaining your results requires ongoing care.

Our retainer replacement program helps patients protect their new smiles by making it easier to replace retainers that are lost, damaged, or no longer fit correctly. Wearing your retainers as recommended helps keep teeth in their corrected positions and reduces the risk of unwanted shifting.

We are committed to helping you maintain your orthodontic results long after your active treatment is finished.

Efficient Orthodontic Appointments

We know that families have busy schedules, and we work to make orthodontic visits as convenient as possible.

Our longest routine treatment appointment is just 30 minutes, helping patients fit orthodontic care into their school, work, and family commitments without unnecessary disruption to their day.
